Identify Game Features And Its Implementations
• Three elements: each to have a class of its own; each element has their own abilities
• Characters: A Player class and a Minion class; Player class to have HP, attack and defence
• Gameplay: The gameplay flow of one turn; drawing a card, placing the three cards into the card slots, and playing the action card
Brainstorm Character Concept and Ideas
The characters will be based off inspiration from animation series and kids’ television show characters. The characters will have basic rounded bodies and simple body features. They will look like plush toys in order to appeal to our target audience.
The characters will be based off animals: Fire element will be represented by a fox, Water element will be represented by a squid, and Earth element will be represented by an elephant.
Brainstorm Character Attributes
The first ability of the character will be its regular skill; it will be triggered when cast as an action card and if there are either zero or one card of that element on the playmat. If one card on the playmat shares an element with the action card, the action card will gain a bonus effect.
The second ability of the character will be its special skill; it will be triggered when cast as an action card and if there are exactly two cards of that element on the playmat.
The third ability of the character will be its passive skill; it will be triggered when any action card is played and there are three cards of that element type on the playmat.
Each element will have its strength and weakness against other elements: Fire > Earth, Earth > Water, Water > Fire
To-Do List
• Experiment with Unity3D– develop a test program to learn how to develop a turn-based game with some gameplay elements. • Prepare documentation templates needed for midpoint review • Brainstorm card designs / layout • Experiment with art styles: character design, colours and font styles
